Now
you are ready to fulfill the fact-finding requirement of your journal.
You have rested for a whole week in the quiet hostel. You feel rejuvenated
and energetic, so you decide to catch a ride with a local farmer into the
nearby city. You enjoyed reading the poems so much that you became
interested in knowing more about Brazilian literature, in general.
You come upon a bookstand and see examples of works by local, modern writers.
Then you go to the library to do research for a broad overview of literature
in Brazil. Sit on a bench in the park to read this new information.
Consider these questions in your journal:
1.
Which writers would you be interested to read and why?
2. What do you think these works of literature would teach you about Brazilian history, culture, people, etc?
3. What do the literary
periods seem to share in common with what you know of American (or another
country’s) literature?
