Cambodia is officially
called the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is part of the southwestern
Indochinese Peninsula in Southeast Asia. The capitol of Cambodia
is Phnom Penh (try pronouncing that!). Most people in Cambodia speak
Khmer and Buddhism is the religion that most Cambodians practice.
There are two main weather seasons in Camodia. Monsoons, or very
big storms with strong winds, are common between May and October.
During these months there is a lot of rain and humidity. Lighter
monsoons occur from November to March and it is not as rainy and mainly
drier and cloudier.
Rice is a very important
crop in Cambodia and it is grown more than any other crop in this country.
It is the main source of food for its people. Cambodians also depend
on fish and other livestock for food. The cities in Cambodia are
not extremely large and most people live in rural areas.
