There are many times in Cold Mountain when a character’s dream would have provided more insight into that character’s mind or the current state of things in the plot. Staying in tune with the traits a character in the book (major or minor), create a dream for he or she that would enrich the book (no sexual or illegal references) . Your character’s dream might show his or her hidden desires, tell of an event in that character’s past that is influencing the present time, or foreshadow future events that occur in a later part of the book. The dream might include other characters in the book, or might involve symbolic people that represent abstract ideas or events. Create as a clan this dream: write a script for it, list scenery details, and finally, create a 15-20 minute video of your dream. Once again, make sure your dream remains true to the character who is having it and the plot of the book itself. Be creative for this task, and don’t be afraid to show off your clan’s cinematic skills! You will show your video to the entire class, and will be asked to submit a typed rationale of your dream that explains the dream’s context and the reason for choosing to include specific characteristics and details.
